Let’s Nut It Out is a development workshop for leaders, social entrepreneurs, change-makers and anyone in the community who wants to make a difference.
Make a Change Australia executive director and event organiser Karen Corr said the organisation had tuned into the great work people had undertaken to make a difference within the community.
“One of the things we have recognised is there is so much knowledge out there, people are working tirelessly to create amazing things for their communities,” Ms Corr said.
“But they hardly ever get the opportunity to come together and share what they are up to and learn from each other.”
The goal of Let’s Nut It Out is for participants to take-away important skills and knowledge from other attendees to further help their individual projects.
“Overall, we want to make our communities better for everyone,” Ms Corr said.
“Coming together at a local level to understand what’s going on and to help each other in the future to overcome issues and challenges is vital.”
One challenge Maiden Gully-Marong Lions Club president Greg Ralton is currently faced with is engaging new members.
“I’m hoping to increase my skills in social media so I can use it for our recruitment campaign,” Mr Ralton said.
“By engaging with younger people I can start them thinking about the role of the Lions within the community.”
Connection Transformations Bendigo volunteer Angela Geach attended Let’s Nut It Out to create new connections and raise awareness about addiction rehabilitation within the community.
“Today is an opportunity to find connections and funding opportunities within the community so we can help people to get back into work after they graduate from our program,” Ms Geach said.
Connection Transformations hold a program rehabilitation for people to overcome different addictions including drugs, alcohol, gambling and eating disorders.
