For the second time this season, the Keech Australia Fighting Miners scored more than 100 points without reply from a hapless Melbourne Chargers outfit in Victorian Rugby Championship action.
The Chargers were depleted by the absence of key players participating in the Bingham Cup in Amsterdam and had no answer to the strong running of the Miners in the 139-0 thumping.
The Fighting Miners set a club record of 23 tries for the match, beating the previous record of 22 set earlier this season against the Chargers and in 2010 against Border Army.
The 139 points was the Miners’ highest score in an away match and the biggest winning margin in an away match. The 23 tries was the most tries in an away match, beating the previous record of 15 against Puckapunyal in 2015. The record number of goals in an away match (12) was equaled.
The Foundry Hotel player of the day was five-eighth Steve Reynolds.
