Fire crews initially responded to the fire at 1.30pm following reports of smoke coming from the roof.
They arrived on scene at 1.38pm and had the fire under control in nine minutes.
Damage to the building is believed to be extensive.
UPDATE 2.15pm: Detectives have arrived at the scene of the house fire at Strathdale.
UPDATE 1.55pm: Police have arrived at the scene of a house fire on the corner of McIvor Road and Crook Street in Strathdale to direct traffic.
Heathcote-bound traffic on McIvor Road is being rerouted down Crook Street.
Three CFA units are on scene and firefighters are wearing breathing apparatus.
The same house sustained damage in an early morning blaze in mid-April.
That fire was treated as suspicious at the time.

UPDATE 1.43pm: Smoke can be seen billowing from the roof of a weatherboard house on fire in Strathdale.
Firefighters are on scene.
EARLIER: The CFA is responding to reports of a building fire on McIvor Road at Strathdale.
The call was made shortly after 1.30pm.
