A learner driver has received fines of $1269 after police detected him speeding at 20km/h over the limit at Elmore at the weekend.

The driver was also found to have no experienced driver with him – his passenger held a probationary licence – and had no L plates displayed when he was pulled over on the Northern Highway at Elmore.
The learner was one of a number of drivers caught speeding by State Highway Patrol officers, who are in the Campaspe policing area conducting Operation Fahrenheit.
Patrol cars will work out of Echuca while State Highway Patrol is in the area, and the community can expect to see a booze bus in operation.
The State Highway Patrol officers have a particular focus on those driving impaired – such as those under the influence of drugs or alcohol – low-level speeding, and safety offences.
This year, there have been 50 fatalities on Victoria’s rural and regional roads, while 40 have occurred in Melbourne.
