Kangaroo Flat retained its unbeaten status when it defeated fourth-placed Woorinen by 53 points on Sunday, while Strathfieldsaye confirmed itself as a clear second pick when it handed third-placed Golden Square a 37-point loss on Sunday.
At the other end of the table, Eaglehawk celebrated its first win of the season when it defeated Sandhurst by eight goals. Jessica Murley and Natasha Doggett were brilliant for the Borough.
In the closest game of the round, fifth-placed Kyneton held off sixth-placed South Bendigo by 10 points.
The Tigers were two goals down at the final change, but kicked five goals to one in the last term to win 8.7 (55) to 6.9 (45).
In the under-15 girls, Sandhurst is the team to beat, but Kyneton and Strathfieldsaye Thunder are not far behind.
Scarlett Orritt and Alyssa Rodgers led the Tigers to an impressive 53-point win over South Bendigo.
Strath Thunder proved too good for clubmates Strath Storm.
Less than one goal separated the two teams for most of the day before the Thunder kicked 2.4 to no score in the final term to win 5.5 (35) to 3.6 (24).
In the final game of the round, Eaglehawk defeated White Hills by 92 points. Keely Fullerton kicked five goals, while Imogen O’Neill and Priya Swain did plenty of damage.
In under-16 seniors action, Sandhurst big man Cobi Maxted kicked 10 goals to lead the Dragons to a 16.5 (101) to 5.13 (43) win over White Hills.
Strathfieldsaye flexed its muscle when it thrashed Castlemaine by 122 points. The Storm had 11 individual goal kickers in the 21.12 (138) to 2.4 (16) win.
Kangaroo Flat rallied from a half-time deficit to defeat South Bendigo by 20 points at Dower Park.
The Roos stormed home with eight goals to three in the second half on the back of fine games from Ryan O’Keefe and Riley Bouwmeester.
Kyneton made it five wins from five games when it handed Eaglehawk an 81-point defeat.
In the under-14 seniors, Kyneton and Sandhurst consolidated the top two positions in the four-team league. The top-of-the-table Tigers were made to work hard for their 7.7 (49) to 5.9 (39) win over Golden Square.
Jack O’Sullivan and Ben Cameron led the way for the Tigers, while Billy Meade and Bailey Cain played well for the Dogs.
Sandhurst edged out Strathfieldsaye by 15 points. Xavier Austin and Bernard Nihill stood out for the Dragons, while Patrick Murphy and Riley Paetow impressed for the Storm.
In under-12A, Golden Square inflicted Kyneton’s first loss of the season.
The Dogs kept the Tigers scoreless in the first half and then held on strongly to win 6.4 (40) to 3.3 (21).
Dash Daniels and Dalton Webb led the way for the Bulldogs. Hagan Freeman and Oliver Morris were best for the Tigers.
In the other under-12A match, St Therese’s kept Strathfieldsaye scoreless in a 5.9 (39) to 0.0 (0) victory.
Henry Edwards was best on ground, while Deakin Andrews and Campbell Evans also played well. Mitch Elkington was best for the Storm.
