The Storm took 16 minutes in the first quarter to kick their first goal of the game and then the flood gates opened as they cruised to a 27.25 (187) to 4.5 (29) win.
Sharp’s individual tally of 17.11 was the highest total in the BFNL since Grant Weeks bagged 21 goals for Golden Square against Kyneton in 2012.
“It’s a nice feeling to kick 17, but all the credit has to go to the guys up the field,’’ Sharp said on Saturday night.
“They served it up to me on a platter today. We kept to our structures and it was great to see young guys come into the side like Hunter Lawrence and play their role.
“It was a good day for the club.”
Sharp, whose previous best tally was 14 against Maryborough last year, missed a handful of shots he’d normally kick with his eyes closed and could have kicked 20-plus.
The left-footer has now kicked 36 goals in five games this season.
While Sharp’s performance was the highlight of the match, the Storm had plenty of other winners.
Shannon and Kallen Geary set up play superbly off half-back, Trent Donnan and Josh Formosa were damaging at ground level and recruit Bryce Carroll showed his class across half-forward.
The undermanned Magpies tried hard, but they just don’t have the depth and body strength to go with a quality side like the Storm.
Midfielder Jake O’Brien is all class and doesn’t get the credit he deserves because he’s playing in a bottom side.
Bendigo Pioneer Zac Denahy continues to show promise and big men Jesse Johnson, Dylan Atkins and Braidon Blake competed hard.
