During Christmas each year people remember their loved ones by placing a card, which includes a message, on the Tree of Remembrance located at the Bendigo Marketplace, the ashes used at the ceremony were from these cards.
The theme of Palliative Care week 2018 is What matters most?, which addresses the requirement for Australians to plan for their end of life care and have open discussions about it with their loved ones and health professionals.
Palliative care involves pain and symptom management with the overall aim of giving people as much time as possible as they progress through life living with a limiting illness.
It is not just for individuals who are close to the end of their lives, and can be accessed from the point of diagnosis to help patients live for as long as possible.
