Sheldon Burke made it two wins from two fights in the middleweight division (75kg), beating Melbourne boxer Jasper Farnham by unanimous points decision.
His trainer Danniel Burton said Burke was able to take advantage of a bye weekend with Golden Square football club to squeeze in a fight with fresh legs.
“Sheldon controlled the fight from his back foot, out-punching and scoring at will over three two-minute rounds,” Burton said.
“He never looked in trouble and could have stepped it up and went for the stoppage but he really didn’t need to, a win is a win.”
Sixteen-year-old Lachlan Kent also made it two-from-two defeating his opponent Hayden Murphy, from Keilor’s Lions Den Boxing, by technical knockout in the third round.
“Lachlan is very tall for a lightweight (60kg) and can have trouble finding his range,” Burton said.
“The first round was a little sketchy as he tried to slowly pick his shots, but that's me being a super critical coach.
“By the second round he had found his rhythm and was only a matter of time before he finished the bout.
“Getting two standing 8 counts in the last the referee called an end to the match.”
Burton said Burke’s future fights would be based around his football commitments.
“Lachlan has had his name in and will continue to have his name in for every event,” he said.
“We need to get him as much experience before state titles later in the year.”
