People doing positive things will feature in a Bendigo Community Health Services #5ways to Wellbeing campaign later this month.
The #5ways to Wellbeing campaign will use five days of free themed activities to raise community awareness of the important role wellbeing plays in strong mental health.
BCHS project worker Anne-Marie Kelly said good wellbeing and mental health were essential to a happy and healthy life and the campaign from May 28 to June 1 would deliver that message to the community.
“We will feature stories of people doing positive things in the community on day one – Take Notice. We will use these stories to show how positivity can make a real difference,” Ms Kelly said.
“We need the community to nominate people with positive stories - it could be the person who cooks the barbecue at your children’s sport, goes out of their way to make the office happy or a neighbour who brings your bin in. If this reminds you of someone, please go to www.bchs.com.au and grab a nomination form.
“Five stories will be chosen for the campaign and the people will receive some nice prizes too thanks to Hume and Iser Home Hardware, Intersport Bicknells and the Old Green Bean.”
Day two of the #5ways to Wellbeing campaign ‘Give’ will see BCHS support workplaces and schools to host small events to raise awareness of wellbeing and mental health.
Day three ‘Learn’ will see Smiling Mind hosting free mindfulness workshops for schools and workplaces while day four ‘Connect’ will see BCHS handing out free cookies carrying wellbeing messages.
Day five ‘Be Active’ will feature a kidz party with TZR Reptiles and Wildlife, AFL Central Victoria, magician, bubble machine, face painting, CFA display and free barbecue cooked by Kangaroo Flat Rotary Club.
