The Bulls had the better of the second half to defeat Wycheproof-Narraport by 38 points.
The Demons – aided by the Bulls’ inaccuracy – held a 12-point advantage at half-time as they led 5.1 to 2.7.
However, the Bulls booted 10 goals to two after half-time to run away with a 12.12 (84) to 7.4 (46) victory.
Saturday was the third time in their five games this season the Bulls have outscored their opposition by at least 50 points in the second half.
Bulls’ star Nathan Gordon slotted four majors to not only be the leading goalkicker in the game, but also the best player for his side.
Dale Hinkley and Ruben Vesikuru also played strong games for the Bulls, who for the first time since 2009 have won their opening five games.
Trevor Rumbold, George Turner and Daniel Bibby led the better players for the reigning premier Demons.
• Charlton broke through for its first victory of the season, defeating St Arnaud by 51 points.
The Navies put the foot down in the second half in their 14.8 (92) to 5.11 (41) victory – only the fourth win in their past 21 games since they won the 2016 premiership.
Charlton was nine points in front at half-time before adding nine goals to two after the break.
Recruit Ryan Wellington (five) and coach Kain Robins (four) combined for nine goals for the Navies, whose best player was former coach Aaron Walklate along with Josh McKee and Thomas Finlay (two goals).
The Saints have now copped two heavy losses in a row after they had earlier made an encouraging 3-0 start to the season.
Coach James McNamee was again the best player for the Saints for the fourth week in a row.
Needing just three more goals to surpass former Wedderburn star Alan Jackson’s NCFL record of 811 goals, St Arnaud’s Daniel Needs was held goal-less.
• It was also a first win of the season for Sea Lake Nandaly Tigers, who thumped Boort by 66 points.
The Tigers’ victory was highlighted by a haul of 10 goals from Billy McInnes, who starred in the 19.12 (126) to 9.6 (60) win.
McInnes’ haul was the competition’s first double-figure bag of the season.
The loss was the fourth in a row for Boort, which had Brodie Leonard-Shannon as its best player.
• Donald improved to 3-2 on the back of a 13-point victory at home over Wedderburn.
The Royal Blues led at every change on the way to their 10.8 (68) to 8.7 (55) triumph.
Forward Seamus Young’s five goals were telling in the victory for Donald, while Robert Tonkin’s consistent start to the season continued for the Redbacks as he was named their best player.
