The Dragons consigned the under-manned Pioneers to their seventh loss in a row with their 10.14 (74) to 0.3 (3) win at Trevor Barker Beach Oval.
“Without wanting to make too many excuses, the reality is we’re a very young list primarily made up of 16 and 17-year-olds and had only three girls in the side today who are 18,” Pioneers coach Shawn McCormick said.
“But in saying that, we were comprehensively outplayed and didn’t have the sustained effort of what we’ve had in other weeks when we’ve had defeats.
“Hopefully, the girls will learn from it and we’ll endeavour to continue to try to improve.
“There were some positives in that we played some girls in different positions because part of the process is about developing players.”
Captain Megan Williamson, who has been the Pioneers’ most consistent this season and is now part of Williamstown’s VFLW list, was their best player in the midfield.
The Pioneers play Dandenong in their final game of the season next Saturday.
