Bendigo Winegrowers Association president Wes Vine said the weather was perfect for the occasion.
“The festival is a great opportunity for people to come to one place and try the wines of the region from over 18 wineries,” Mr Vine said.
“One of the best things about today is the ability to match the wines with food.
“Where possible, the food is all locally produced.”
One of the wineries showcasing at the festival was Burnt Acre Vineyard in Marong.
Burnt Acre winemaker Cliff Stubbs said ripe fruit, balance of acid and level of tannin were essential to a good shiraz.
Tony Edgar attended the festival with his wife Sue Edgar and friends Kit Waayers and Jim Waayers.
“This is our second time to the festival and it was a terrific event last time so we were very keen to come today and do it again,” Mr Edgar said.
“We love to drink wines from Bendigo and it’s always a friendly place to be.
“The setting here in the park is terrific and the weather couldn’t be any better.”
