AS a passionate Essendon supporter, Caleb Logan is about to live out a sporting dream when he represents his beloved Bombers in the inaugural season of the Robert Rose Foundation Victorian Wheelchair Football League.
The Bombers are among five AFL clubs, along with Collingwood, Hawthorn, Richmond and St Kilda, that have partnered with Disability Sport and Recreation in developing squads for the first state-wide AFL wheelchair competition.
Each team has drafted a squad of eight players following a day of mixed gender Draft Combine testing.
Logan, who was born with Spina bifida, was the first player selected by the Bombers.
“I’m pumped to have been selected,” Logan said on Friday.
“Going from watching the boys on TV and watching my brothers and sister play footy and thinking I will never be able to play to now being able to play for the club that has been a big part of me is awesome.”
Logan recently represented Victoria at the Wheelchair Australian Rules National Championships, with the Vics claiming a bronze medal.
The first round of the VWFL will be played on Sunday, May 6, with Essendon to begin its season against Collingwood at the Boroondara Sports Complex.
