At the reception in London, the prime minister praised the prince for founding the games to help wounded, injured or sick soldiers.
"As you know we are a sporting nation and my heart will be with the green and gold," Mr Turnbull said on Saturday.
"You'll receive an absolutely rapturous welcome in Sydney."
Mr Turnbull presented the royal couple with the official jackets for the Sydney games, which will be held in October.
The pair posed in front of the "returning boomerang" logo, which represents those soldiers who have returned from war.
Prince Harry, a former soldier who served in Afghanistan, founded the Invictus Games in 2014.
