Sally Cahill will open her garden in Kennington from 10am to 4.30pm on Saturday and Sunday.
Her garden features a large cypress hedge that was planted after local Eucalypts were removed to make room for power upgrades in 1994.
“Our challenge was to commence our garden from the foundations up,” Sally said.
“Due to the different levels in the garden we have had numerous tradespeople assisting in its development.”
Since then, Sally has worked tirelessly with her husband Drew and numerous tradespeople to create her home oasis.
The garden features many lovely ‘living areas’ including a large deck draped in an ornamental grape vine, intimate nook with a miniature maple in a pot, outdoor dining area that looks over the hedging and a lawn.
“As any gardener knows a garden is never finished,” Sally said.
“It is an ongoing love of ours enjoyed by myself and my husband. We are excited to share it.”
Dragons Abreast Bendigo has more than 20 members who have been affected by breast cancer or know someone who has.
The team was founded in 2002 and competes in regattas all over the country.
Held in conjunction with Open Gardens Victoria, the Dragons Abreast open garden is at 43 Steane Street, Kennington, this weekend.
The garden is open from 10am to 4.30pm on Saturday and Sunday. Entry is $8 for adults, $5 for students and free for under-18s.
