The two-time Michelsen Medal winner was reported for engaging in rough play after an incident with Golden Square's Braydon Welsh late in the second quarter.

Martin and Welsh tangled when a small melee broke out in the centre of the ground after a Golden Square goal.

Welsh fell to the turf and was awarded a free kick for high contact, while Martin was shown a yellow card and sent from the ground for 15 minutes.

Welsh regained his feet, took the free kick and played out the rest of the game.

The incident helped spark the Bulldogs. They kicked six goals to none for the remainder of the game and won by 33 points.

A number of free kicks against Sandhurst led to Golden Square goals and Dragons' coach Andrew Collins said his side needed to get the balance right between playing on the edge and being undisciplined.

"We were undisciplined there for a period and it cost us a couple of goals,'' Collins said.

"A couple of the free kciks that resulted in goals were poor technique on our behalf rather than discipline. We laid a poor tackle and there was a chopping of the arms as well.

"All those little things add up and cost you. We need to go away and work on our discipline and some technical issues as well."

The Dragons had looked the better side for much of the first half against the Dogs, but lost their way in the second half.

"The first quarter-and-a-half we played played okay and we were moving the ball okay,'' Collins said.

"The momentum turned when we gave away a free kick that resulted in a goal and then when we had to play with 17 men it made it hard.

"I thought Square were a bit quicker on the outside and they were good with their handball away from congestion."

Joel Wharton, Zeb Broadbent, Callum Prest, Zac Pallpratt, Pascale Craig and Josh Hann are still to return to the Sandhurst senior side, but they won't be back for this week's Graeme Wright Memorial Cup clash with South Bendigo.

"There wasn't much between the sides last year and we don't think they (South Bendigo) have dropped off at all,'' Collins said.

"We'll have to play well to beat them."

The day and time of Martin’s tribunal hearing is still to be set.
