A PAIR of wins, including one aboard a horse she trains, has delivered Courtney Pace her second straight Victorian picnic jockey’s premiership.
A double at Saturday’s season-ending meeting at Healesville lifted Pace to 27 wins for the season, four ahead of nearest rival and fellow Bendigo jockey Toby Lake.
Dani Walker was third on 15 wins.
The premiership was Pace’s second in a row and third overall.
She won her first title in 2014-15.
Pace went into Saturday protecting a two-win lead over Lake.
She extended her lead to three by piloting her own horse Fold to victory in race three.
Pace followed up by partnering the Russell Green-trained Victorian Crown to victory in the Cindy McLeish MP for Eildon Golden Thong (1650M).
It was Pace’s second win on the eight-year-old gelding in six days after she won the Tambo Valley Cup (1600m) on the horse last Sunday at Swift’s Creek.
Pace’s win with Fold was her third in 10 starts since taking over the training duties from her after Arthur Pace late last year.
