LAST YEAR: 8th – 3-12-1
ELMORE coach Danny Brewster is confident the growth in his young players that he has witnessed during the pre-season are the first signs of an improved 2018 for the Bloods.
“We invested a lot into the kids last year and the growth of them during the pre-season has been super,” Brewster said.
“So with the kids improving and understanding the hard work that needs to go into senior footy and understanding the structures we’ve put in place, plus adding in a bit of experience, that will really help us this year and I think that’s where a lot of our improvement is going to come from.”
Elmore – which won three games last year after sliding back down the ladder – has added a pair of recruits from AFL Queensland club Palm Beach Currumbin – Angus Munro and Blake Schneider.
The versatile Munro will play through the midfield, while Schneider will add to the Bloods’ defensive stocks as a medium-sized backman.
Centre half-back Zac Laffy will join Schneider in defence, while Aaron Cuthbert is an inside midfielder and half-forward.
“We’re probably still a little short through the midfield, but we’ve strengthened our back six,” Brewster said.
