The Ogden family saw their 10 specially reared lambs sell for $500 a head, with all money going towards the Good Friday Appeal.
Even now, the reason the family donated the livestock provokes strong emotions for Katrina Ogden.
When her son Heath was just a baby he contracted pneumonia and was rushed to the Bendigo Hospital, before undergoing surgery at the Royal Children’s Hospital.
“You really don’t realise, until you are down there (at the hospital), how much they do for families,” Mrs Ogden said.
Heath went to hospital in 2013. The auction has taken place every year since.

This year’s price per head was $500, exceeding last years’ by $150.
“We are very chuffed, this is overwhelming, really,” Mrs Ogden said.
Elders Bendigo Livestock manager Nigel Starick thanked buyers from Warrnambool’s Midfield Meats and Melbourne’s Cedar Meats for their generous purchase.
Mr Starick congratulated the Ogdens, saying they were good community-minded people who generously supported many events associated with the fight against cancer.
