BRAD Morgan is champing at the bit for March 17 to roll around.
The Bendigo super-lightweight is ready to resume his ultra-promising boxing career at Saturday nights Night of the Dragons showcase at the Bendigo Exhibition Centre.
Morgan will exchange blows over four rounds with Thailand's Worraphon Jesadajindawat.
It will be the 24-year-olds first fight in Bendigo since June 2016.
His previous two bouts have been fought in Thailand and the Philippines.
Morgan, who is 5-0 in the professional ranks, said he was looking forward to performing in front of a vocal hometown crowd.
Its a lot better to be out there in front of friends and family then having them have to go overseas, he said.
I cant wait for it.
Morgan views his two overseas fights and subsequent time spent training in some of Asias best known boxing gyms as integral to his development in the sport.
Its taught me to train harder and made me realise you only have a relatively short time in boxing, he said.
You see some things in your travels, some of its bad, some of its good. So you do appreciate what you have back here.
Morgan will be one of four fighters on Saturday nights card from the California Gully-based Vinton Street Gym run by brothers Pat and Gary Connolly.
Three of the four, including Matt Hall and Jesse Tuitupou will be matched against Thai boxers.
Morgan admitted details on his opponent were sketchy, but that was often the case in international bouts.
With international fights its hard to find footage of them, he said.
But I always train hard and prepare the same no matter what and give 100 per cent.
I train five or six nights a week, but just have to make sure my weight is down.
What is known about Jesadajindawat is that is he is 1-4 in the professional ranks, but has had more than 100 muay thai fights.
Morgan, who made his debut at Battle of the Goldfields at Bendigo Stadium in November 2015, boasts an impressive four knock-outs among his five wins.
His trainer Gary Connolly tipped the Morgan-Jesadajindawat bout to be one of the more spectacular on the 11-fight card.
He (Jesadajindawat) has lost his last four fight, but he has lost to some quality fights, he said.
One was against a Chinese fighter, who was one of the top amateurs, and his last fight, which he lost on points, was against the WBC regional champion, sohes no slouch.
Hes a young guy too, who wants to make his way in boxing.
That said Brad is very fit and very well prepared.
Tickets for Night of the Dragons, which will feature two Asian Boxing Federation title fights, are available from The Capital box office, GoTix.com, or 5434 6100.
