After Vungers won under lights at Moonee Valley and Go Down stormed to victory at Bendigo last Wednesday, Hearps watched on as the first son of his former smart mare Umgeton went under the hammer at the Melbourne Inglis Premier Yearling Sales on Monday.
The cracking type by boom sire Written Tycoon was passed in for $160,000 after falling short of the reserve price of $180,000, but the colt was expected to be sold after some negotiations.
Umgeton won more than $200,000 in prizemoney for Hearps and her loyal owners.
She won three city races – two at Moonee Valley and one at Caulfield.
The speedy mare is now in foul to another boom sprinting sire – Zoustar.
Meanwhile, the Bendigo Jockey Club will host an eight-race card on Tuesday. The first event is at 1.30pm.
