BRAVES teams have dominated on their home courts at the 2018 Bendigo Junior Classic.
Seven Bendigo Braves teams ended the annual Australia Day weekend tournament as champions, with another five reaching grand finals.
The championship haul included wins in the under-20 boys and the top under-18 and under-16 girls divisions.
A convincing 48-33 grand final win against Sunbury by under-20 boys was spearheaded by one of the performances of the tournament by young-gun Max Kos.
The class and composed shooter scorched the Jets for 22 points in a high-calibre grand final at Bendigo Stadium.
Trent Leech top scored for the Braves in their thrilling 44-39 under-18 boys win over Portland.
Danielle O’Toole was the star of the Braves under-18 girls A title win with 13 points, while Ellie Vlaeminck (10) and Meg McCarthy (9) were the top contributors in the under-girls’ championship win.
A 28-18 win over Wodonga gave the under-16 Braves back-to-back wins at the Classic, with coach Nick Salm and his team now looking forward to the state championships in three weeks’ time.
Finlay Lockhart top scored with eight-points, including the game-winner, as the Braves defeated Warrnmabool 27-26 in a thrilling under-12 boys final.
More than 260 teams contested the Classic across 23 divisions.
