A field of 14 contested the 3000m heat at the Latrobe University Bendigo athletics complex in Retreat Road.
A member of South Bendigo Athletics Club, Parker won the duel in a time of 10:39.94 from Ben Stolz of Bendigo Harriers in 10:51.88 as Rossi Evans from Bendigo Harriers fought on to be third in 11:03.96.
Fastest female and seventh overall was the in-form Alice Wilkinson from Bendigo Harriers in 11:36.63.
Wilkinson’s clubmate, Anne Buckley ran strongly in 12:11.72, as University’s Brian Watson, South Bendigo’s Peter Curtis and Eaglehawk’s Trevor Kelly were fourth, fifth and sixth across the line.
For many competitors, the hit-out was part of their build-up to the Victoria Country track and field titles on the Australia Day holiday weekend in Ballarat.
