An afternoon of grey skies in central Victoria yesterday gave way to a few showers before residents were treated to one of the region’s famous sunsets.

The Bureau of Meteorology issued severe weather warnings for the region on Friday afternoon and evening, but the danger had passed over the area by the time of the agency’s 9pm update.
The Bendigo SES unit was not called to any incidents during the period of severe weather.
They did attend a job in Strathfieldsaye this morning, where a tree had threatened to fall over, but it was not believed to be weather-related.
Just 0.4 millimetres of rain were recorded at the Bendigo airport between 9am yesterday morning and the same time today.
Other places saw dramatically more rainfall.
Castlemaine received 16 millimetres, while 15 millimetres fell at Rochester. Further east, Pyalong copped 35 millimetres.
Today’s forecast maximum temperature is 25 degrees. On Sunday and Monday, the mercury should rise to 29 and 30 respectively.
