UPDATE 1.46pm: A BENDIGO woman has been flown to hospital with serious injuries after being trapped in a car for more than an hour.
Emergency services were called to Back Hepburn Road, at Hepburn Springs, about 9.30am following reports a car had crashed into a tree.
Police said the woman, 19, was trapped for about an hour and a half before being freed by emergency services.
An Ambulance Victoria spokeswoman said air ambulance conveyed the woman to The Alfred hospital in Melbourne in a serious but stable condition.
The woman sustained arm, leg and pelvis injuries.
The driver of the car, a 24-year-old Bendigo man, was taken to Ballarat hospital by road.
Ambulance Victoria said the man was in a stable condition with rib injuries.
Police will investigate the cause of the crash.
EARLIER: A young woman has been airlifted to Melbourne and a man has been hospitalised after the car they were travelling in smashed into a tree this morning.
Emergency crews worked to free the 19-year-old from her car along Back Hepburn Road near Jacksons Lookout before the helicopter arrived.
A 25-year-old man, who was believed to the driver of the vehicle, was taken to hospital by road with minor injuries.
Police temporarily blocked off the area to local traffic after the crash, which occurred about 9.30am.
