The duo carded 48 points in the 4BBB Stableford event to win on a countback from Stan Jelbart and Wayne Jelbart. In third placing were Robin Monro and Ian Monotti on 47 points.
With a field of more than 200 golfers, including touring professionals Lucas Herbert, Andrew Martin and Kris Mueck, there was some brilliant scoring.
Two of the highlights of the day were eagles from Peter Collins on the 363m par four seventh hole and Ryan Connaughton on the par five 469m 13th hole.
The challenge for the $150 Super Pin par three holes was intense, with three local club members – Peter Collins (fifth hole), Lucas Schelosky (12th hole) and veteran Brian Doherty (17th hole) – grabbing the prizes.
Winners of the nearest the pin competition were Kristi Bilkey, Ryan Connaughton, Andrew Martin, Lucas Herbert, Brendan Smith, Geoff Viney, Peter Collins, Eddy Stefan, Hayden Nielsen, Kris Mueck, Darren Kulbars and Scott Burton.
“I know I speak on behalf of Andrew Martin and Kris Mueck, and we really enjoy the concept of the Christmas Challenge and the work that the Bendigo Golf Club puts into the event with a great array of prizes on offer to all the players,’’ Herbert said.
