Parks Victoria are encouraging families to get outdoors and take in the scenery.
Are chief ranger Karen Doyle said there was no shortage of great parks to enjoy around Bendigo.
“If you want to stay close to town, take a walk through many sections of the Greater Bendigo National Park or Bendigo Regional Park,” she said.
“In the national park you can enjoy sweeping views from the One Tree Hill lookout, near La Trobe University. The lookout is a great spot to take visitors if you have any over the festive season.
“If you’ve got more time on your hands, then venture out to Castlemaine Diggings National Heritage Park or Maldon Historic Area to discover relics of our gold mining history. Or head for the heights at Mount Alexander Regional Park near Harcourt.”
