SKILLS in sprints, distance runs, jumps and throws will be tested at this weekend’s running of the Flack Advisory Bendigo Region multi-event championships.

Athletes from Bendigo Harriers, Bendigo University, Eaglehawk, South Bendigo and from as far afield as Wodonga will vie for glory in decathlon, heptathlon or pentathlon across various age groups.
Action starts at 4pm on Friday at the Latrobe University Bendigo athletics complex in Flora Hill and continues from 1.30pm on Saturday.
Points are awarded based on times and marks and the highest score wins.
The 10-event decathlon has drawn South Bendigo’s Peter Curtis, Bendigo Harriers, Geoff Jordan, and Wodonga’s Christian Paynter.
A gruelling two-day test includes the 100m sprint, 110m hurdles, 400m, 1500m, long juimp, high jump, shot put, discus, javelin and pole vault.
Now competing with Melbourne University, Liam Schreck is in the field for the under-20 decathlon.
The heptathlon is a seven-event program that includes 100m hurdles, high jump, shot put, 200m, long jump, javelin and 800m.
Athletes to watch includes South Bendigo’s James Woods, and University’s Jorja Van Den Berg.
Pentathlon events are hurdles, high jump, shot put, long jump and 800m.
Competitors for the pentathlon include University’s Melissa and Ross Douglas; Eaglehawk’s Kathy Heagney, Leah Langtree and Antony Langdon; South Bendigo’s mother-son combination Trudy and Logan Hromenko, and clubmates Aaron and Jayne Norton.
The Gavriliadis siblings, Monique and Jake, have shone in many events for Bendigo Harriers this season.
Wodonga will also be represented by Gemma Fenn and Paige Duffy.
