The library will be ready for students at the start of 2018, on the lower floor of the refurbished wing. The upper floor will have classrooms for humanities and psychology.
The old library was 20 years old and will be converted into a business centre with classrooms.
John Holton, of BSSC, said the way school libraries worked had changed significantly in the last 20 years.
“The new library is a lot more high-tech and has more quiet study areas for students,” he said.
“We decided to get all the teachers involved in the move because of the necessity of moving so many items, and it was a great team-building exercise as well.”
The school will hold an official opening for the Alexander Wing in the coming months.
