Co-authored by Bendigo cricket identities John Harris and Darren Rodda, Bendigo District Cricket Association 1894-2017 looks back on how the BDCA was formed, provides a history of all 35 clubs to compete in the league, profiles the individuals who have made the league a success and has an unmatched statistical section on the BDCA’s greatest first XI players.
“The longer this project went the more interesting it became,’’ Harris said.
“It was not hard work, it was a labour of love.
“At the printing stage, Darren and I had a conversation and we both agreed that this book is better than anything else we have written.
“It’s not just statistics and it’s not just about high-profile people. A lot of little people are mentioned in the book and that makes me feel good that we’ve been able to give recognition to people who over the years haven’t necessarily got the recognition they deserved.”
