Emergency services were still at the scene of a collision between a ute and a B-double, which saw the truck full of potassium nitrate tip over.
Neither driver was seriously injured in the incident.
A police spokesperson said they expected officers to be on scene until at least 11pm tonight.
Workers are trying to erect the vehicle from its resting place on Bridgewater-Serpentine Road.
EARLIER: A truck carrying explosive chemicals has tipped in Bridgewater this afternoon, blocking roads and prompting warnings to avoid the area.
A B-double clipped a utility vehicle on the Bridgewater-Serpentine Road about 2.45pm, causing the truck driver to swerve and lose control of the vehicle.
Sergeant Sean Dickson from Inglewood police station told the Bendigo Advertiser the truck was carrying one-tonne bags of potassium nitrate at the time.
Machinery is being brought in to right the truck.
The CFA has issued a warning to residents of Bridgewater, Bridgewater North, Bridgewater On Loddon, Inglewood and Salisbury West, asking them to avoid the area and keep roads clear.
Several road closures are in place, including Bridgewater-Serpentine Road, Inglewood-Serpentine Road and Wedderburn Road.
