After leading the club’s under-14 senior side to the premiership last season, Ian Hart and Sheldon Burke are stepping up to co-coach the Bulldogs’ under-16s.
Former Fitzroy and Sydney Swans player Rowan Warfe – the first player drafted from the Bendigo Pioneers in 1993 – and Cameron Carter will co-coach the club’s under-14s,
Both are former AFL Central Victoria Academy coaches, while Carter is also a dual senior premiership coach with Mount Pleasant.
The Bulldogs have reappointed Anthony Lawlor and Damian Dillon as under-9s and 10s coaches, while the girls coaches are Todd Deary, Craig Riddiford and Jen Morrison.
The trio are keen to help build the pathway for Golden Square’s first senior women’s team by 2019 or 2020.
The Bulldogs will also have senior players Jake Thrum and Will Lee to assist in the development of the club’s juniors, while one of Golden Square’s modern day greats – Simon Rosa – will be involved in the Auskick program.
“It’s great to have parents involved in junior footy and we have taken it to the next level seeking interest from players at the senior club to come back and help at grassroots level filling coach roles,” Golden Square’s coaching and player development co-ordinator Ricky Jenkyn said this week.
“When we have a recognised player talking to the boys and girls you can almost hear a pin drop most of the time.”
