Dance numbers and songs from musicals including Matilda, Wonka, The Addams Family and Aladdin will feature in the school’s performance at The Capital on Saturday.
Thomas School of Dance co-principal Kirsten Thomas said more than 100 dance students would feature in the show.
“Students range from age 2 to right up to mid 20s. They sing, do jazz, tap, ballet – every genre of dance is covered and there are lots of great costumes,” she said.
“Basing it on Broadway, there is a lot of musical theatre and a lot of big numbers from those shows.”
Ms Thomas and her sister Lauren Abbott founded Thomas School of Dance 15 years ago.
“We have danced out whole lives. We started (the school) from nothing and have developed into two locations,” she said.
“When we started we were performing recitals in tiny halls and now we are at The Capital.”
Ms Thomas put the school’s success down to its students as well as its staff.
“The students are so fantastic in shows and performances. We tend to have students who have a real passion for dance and then their friends join in as well,” she said.
“We create a fun-filled, family environment but also have had success in dance eisteddfods across the state.”
Thomas School of Dance’s recital – Broadway Bound – is on at The Capital at 2.30pm on Saturday.
