The Spring Gully Strath Eppalock Butterflies face a crucial test against Spring Gully Words and Pictures Photography.
Both line-ups are on the rebound from defeat as they take to the courts from 7pm.
The fourth-placed Butterflies have a 4-4 record and will be determined to strike back from last week’s 20-game loss to the unbeaten South Bendigo.
Words and Pictures was outplayed in its latest hit-out as BTC Growl Weightlifting won five of six rubbers in a 9-69 to 3-50 victory.
A Butterflies line-up that has the experience of Matt Hartland, Jamie Brown and Danielle Bowles will start favourite against a squad that includes Jarrod Epps, Jayden Baber, Carl Hardingham and Danny O’Bree.
• For just the second time this season, BTC Growl Weightlifting aims for consecutive victories when it takes on Strathfieldsaye.
The BTC line-up played brilliantly last week as Baxter Symons, Jeremy Abel, Clark Forbes and Sam Storer chalked up win number two.
Weightlifting faces a strong Strathfieldsaye squad led by Aidan Fitzgerald, Michael Smyth, Lachlan Perdon and Tova Penno.
• Castlemaine faces BTC Taipans.
The Taipans scored a six-game win in last week’s duel with BTC Cobras.
Fifth on the ladder, Taipans are just four points behind Butterflies.
A win for a Taipans line-up led by Ryan Michell, Cameron Lilburn and Dom Barton will keep the heat on.
Castlemaine will be just as desperate to strike back from a 4-7-60 to 2-5-42 loss to Strathfieldsaye.
The play of Isaac Watson, Nathan Mitchell and David Carre will be a key to Castlemaine’s chances.
• BTC Cobras take on the powerful South Bendigo.
The Jordan Hicks-led South Bendigo has showed no sign of complacency in recent weeks.
Jono Guy played well to win his singles and doubles rubber for Cobras last round.
A South Bendigo squad that includes Connor Gledhill, Grant Leader and Mick Mulgrew will be confident of chalking up win number nine.
• Standings – South Bendigo 53 points; BTC Cobras 39; Strathfieldsaye 38; Spring Gully Strath Eppalock Butterflies 32; BTC Taipans 28; Spring Gully Words & Pictures Photography 24; Castlemaine 20; BTC Growl Weightlifting 18.
