The event saw more than 400 people take part in an effort to raise awareness and funds for Motor Neuron Disease.
Funds will go to MND Victoria which offer care and support for Motor Neuron Disease patients and their families.
Bendigo ‘s event co-ordinator Angela Whalen said she was thankful to see so much local support.
“Before we started we had more than 200 online registrations and had about the same number register on the day,” she said.
“It is most definitely an increase on numbers from last year and we had some big groups from Bendigo and Swan Hill make the effort.”
The Bendigo Walk to D’Feet MND has been going for about eight years and Ms Whalen has been to four events.
“It is my second year of helping to organise it. It is good for people to get together who have a common cause of wanting to raise awareness and money for MND,” she said.
“My mother passed away from MND two-and-a-half years ago and MND Victoria do a fantastic job for families. The support they give is fantastic.”
MND Victoria’s manager of fundraising Kathy Nightingale said the organisation works with about 400 MND patients each day in Victoria.
“Last year we supported 536 people with MND. Money raise will help provide patients with wheelchairs, beds and all sorts of equipment needed to help them live on a daily basis,” she said.
“We hope to raise about $20,000 from this event. Before we started the walk we were at about $14,000.
“Last week we had our walk in Melbourne with about 1600 people taking part. We have raised about $190,000 this year.”
