UPDATE 12.55pm: The fire has been listed as under control on the VicEmergency website.
EARLIER: County Fire Authority crews are fighting a bushfire south of Bendigo.
The Richards Road, Sutton Grange blaze is not yet under control and is travelling in a south-westerly direction towards Mt Alexander.
The CFA advises there is currently no threat to people in the area, but they should plan for what to do if the situation changes.
An advice message has been issued for residents in the immediate area.
A spokesperson for the CFA said the blaze was spotted by a fire observer from a lookout tower.
