Track replacement projects planned for the intersections of Nolan and Napier streets and High and Wattle streets.
Works will start at 6am on Saturday, November 25, and go until 6am on Monday.
City of Greater Bendigo Engineering Manager Brett Martini said the tram track replacement works are required because of excessive wear on the tram tracks.
“The Nolan and Napier Street intersection will be partially closed with north bound traffic on McCrae Street to be diverted at Chapel Street however local traffic and bus access will be provided,” he said.
“One lane will also remain open for southbound traffic heading into the city centre.”
At the Wattle and High street intersection, works will restrict High Street to one lane for both north and south bound traffic.
“The work to replace sections of the track will take place around the clock and will involve the removal of existing rails, installation of new rails, and the reinstatement of the tracks’ concrete bedding and road pavements,” Mr Martini said.
In addition to the the tram track works, Bendigo Health will also install a new air link bridge on Friday at the new hospital.
It will see the closure of a section of Arnold Street between Lucan and Barnard streets and Drought and Stewart streets. The work will impact access from Stewart Street to Arnold Street until December 16.
