Bendigo mayor Margaret O’Rourke said she will lead the interview process, but would not disclose the names, or number, of shortlisted applicants.
Recruitment firm Davidson handled the application process, and the company’s principal consultant, executive and boards Victoria, Jarrod McLauchlan said there had been interest from across Australia for the position and it was likely an appointment would be made before Christmas.

Council voted to publicly advertise the CEO position following a private meeting in August, a decision which divided councillors, the Bendigo Advertiser previously reported.
Cr O’Rourke said at the time she did not believe councillors were divided on the matter.
“I think people have different views on it (decision to advertise the CEO position), but it is not divided,” she said.
