The Ben Stolz Myotherapy-backed classic will start at 1.45pm and be a highlight in the fifth round of Athletics Victoria shield action for the Flack Advisory Bendigo Region athletics.
Leading contenders for the race, run under handicap conditions, include in-form clubmates Taryn Furletti and Archie Reid.
Both teenagers have run strongly in distance events at the Latrobe University Bendigo athletics complex and at Melbourne’s Lakeside Stadium. Reid is backmarker and will concede a 4 ½ minute start to Eaglehawk’s Geoff Lee.
Victorious a year ago, Hunter Gill from Bendigo Harriers will be aiming to be just the second athlete to achieve back-to-back wins in a memorial event first run in the 1976-77 season.
Other runners to watch include Wil McCaig, Daniel Plowright, Zahli Drummond, Matilda Moore, Rossi Evans and Melissa Douglas.
