The colour, a stark contrast to the existing tone of grey, is designed to replicate the original colour of the building, which opened in 1921.
The Bendigo Advertiser in September reported the colour was set to change following a discovery of a warm-coloured ‘wash’ coat during renovations.
The building works for the $4.5 million revitalisation project are said to be on track, with an expected completion date of May 2018, however the institute will not reopen on this date.
Around $70,000 has been donated to the RSL fundraising appeal, which is looking for $250,000 to help with the project.
Bendigo Soldiers Memorial Institute curator Kirsten McKay urged businesses to donate to the cause.
