BENDIGO organisations are reaching out to people affected by the loss of a baby or infant.
Remembrance Parks Central Victoria, Bendigo Health, St John of God Bendigo Hospital, The Gianna Centre and SANDS Victoria are hosting a Picnic of Hope to commemorate International Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day, on October 15.
“The day will provide an opportunity for family members to join together and acknowledge cherished young lives,” RPCV chief executive officer Graham Fountain said.
An estimated one in four pregnancies ends in miscarriage each year in Australia.
About 3000 babies are either stillborn or die in the first 28 days after birth.
The Picnic of Hope is scheduled to run from 1pm – 3pm at Eaglehawk Remembrance Park on October 15.
The day includes a memorial service, from 2pm.
People in need of support for miscarriage, stillbirth or the death of an infant can contact the SANDS 24-hour support line on 1300 072 637 or your local support group on 9874 5400.
Mr Fountain said people seeking further information about the Picnic of Hope could call RPCV on 5446 1566 ext. 210 or email events@rpcv.com.au.
