All available members will be out on the roads during the operation, which will focus on drink and drug driving, speed, fatigue, distraction and seatbelt compliance.
“Last year we were lucky that no one lost their lives on the roads over the weekend, we did however have about 120 collisions where people were injured,” Road Policing Command Assistant Commissioner Doug Fryer said.
“It was also concerning that we caught 250 drink drivers; you would think by now motorists understand the consequences of driving or riding with alcohol and or drugs in their system.
“Sadly many don’t seem too, another 202 drivers were found to be driving with an illicit substance in their system.”
Motorists are advised to plan ahead, take time, and drive to conditions and within their ability.
The operation will begin on Thursday and run until midnight Sunday.
