A choir of people aged 64 to 96 and local school students will join one of the biggest names in Australian rock on stage at Ulumbarra Theatre on Tuesday night.
The Forever Young concert will feature a community choir comprised of about 80 older members of the community singing a variety of rock songs alongside Hunters & Collectors lead singer Mark Seymour.
They will be accompanied by the Girton Grammar School rock band, The Riffs, and the school’s string orchestra.
“I was born and bred in regional Victoria so coming to Bendigo is a bit like coming home,” Mr Seymour said.
“I’m captivated by the concept of community choirs and all that they can do for a place.”
Choir director, and head of Girton Grammar junior school music, Laura Dusseljee, said this year’s theme aimed to encourage the audience to think about what ‘home’ meant to them.
“As a welcoming community and a diverse choir, we feel as though this year’s theme reflects what is important to both the choir and to Bendigo,” Mrs Dusseljee said.
