This year’s Macedon Ranges Youth Awards were announced with arts, academic, community, sport and business efforts all spending time in the spotlight.
The awards celebrate the successes of young people aged 12–25 who go to school, work or live in the Macedon Ranges Shire with almost 150 people young people nominated.
Macedon Ranges mayor Jennifer Alden said it was a credit to have so many talented young people living in the region.
Alyssia De Grandi won the academic section while VET Creative Industries Class (drama/dance), Emily Royle (music) and Jock Turner (visual arts) won the arts awards.
In sport Molly Warbuton (individual) and the Kyneton Tigers under-15 girls football team received awards while Jason Rising was recognised in the Live4Life category for his efforts around positive mental health promotion.
Kyneton Secondary Interact Club won the Community leadership and initiative category with Rauri Barker taking out the individual community initiative award.
An award for environmental awareness went to the Kyneton Secondary Green Team and Ren Wilson won a community leadership award.
In the business category, Joshua Murray won the innovation and social enterprise category, Jory Armstrong was named best business employee and Alistair Hanson won best apprentice.
