The mercury has plummeted to sub-zero temperatures on the final day of winter this year.
Bendigo was sitting at -2.1 degrees at 7am, with an apparent temperature of -4.4 degrees according to the Bureau of Meteorology.

In Redesdale, official temperatures were looking slightly warmer, with -1.8 degrees at 6am the coldest so far. Although, it had an apparent temperature of -5.3 degrees.
Foggy and frosty conditions are also evident outside, with a severe frost warning in place for most of central Victoria, forecasting temperatures down to -4 degrees.
Once it clears, things marginally improve with a sunny day forecast and Bendigo, Redesdale, Echuca and Maryborough heading for a top of 15 degrees; Castlemaine 14; and Kyneton 13.
The first day of spring will see similar conditions, with a morning frost and partly cloudy top of 15 degrees forecast.
