The finals begin this weekend, with Eaglehawk, Strathfieldsaye, Golden Square, reigning premier Sandhurst and Kyneton the five teams that have qualified.
They are also the same clubs that contested the 2016 and 2015 senior finals
Just as they did last season, Strathfieldsaye and Golden Square open the finals on Saturday night in the qualifying from 6pm at the QEO.
On Sunday it will be Sandhurst taking on Kyneton from 2.20pm in the elimination final.
Eaglehawk has the first week off and is straight into the second semi-final courtesy of its top of the ladder finish.
In what could be an omen for Eaglehawk, the previous four times the Hawks finished on top – 2008, 1982, 1971 and 1957 – they went on to win the premiership.
