Throughout the 72-year history of the Bulldogs, only five coaches have held aloft the premiership cup.
They are known as the “Fab Five” – Ron Monro (1966), Ralph Conboy (1974), John Plim (1976, 1977), Neville Massina (2015) and Rob Bennett (2015, 2016).
The quintet of premiership coaches were celebrated at a function run by the Friends of North Bendigo Group at the Hibernian Hotel last Sunday.
Having coached premierships the past two seasons, Bennett now has an opportunity to become the first coach in the club’s history to lead a flag hat-trick.
The Bulldogs finished on top of the Heathcote District league ladder with a 15-1 record and are $1.75 favourites with Sportsbet to win the flag again.
