Sometime between 5.30pm and 8am, one of the windows at the Audi dealership in Epsom was shattered.
First Constable Mark Squire said it appeared a ball bearing as big as a thumbnail was thrown at the windows, damaging it but not breaking through.
He said it would cost about $2000 to replace the window.
The ball bearing was recovered at the scene.
Witnesses or anyone with information is asked to contact First Constable Squire at the Bendigo Police Station on 5448 1300, Crime Stoppers on 1800 300 000 or make a confidential report online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
