The one-off gig was billed as a homecoming for the 17-year-old The X Factor winner and Echuca-Moama local. Isaiah greeted attendees with a cover of Adele’s hit, Hello, and performed other soulful classics, including A Change is Gonna Come.
Among the songs to receive the biggest reception were his ninth-placed Eurovision track, Don’t Come Easy, and a stark version of The Beatles’ Let It Be, on which the crowd sang backing vocals.
He paused mid-show to thank his followers, saying their support had “changed his life”.
Isaiah was joined on stage by other X Factor alumni, boy group RD3.
Philanthropic fund the Ulumbarra Foundation sponsored 120 Echuca-Moama residents to attend the concert. The residents were driven to Bendigo as part of the foundation’s efforts to make theatre, music and dance more accessible to new audiences.
