This week, students from California Gully Primary School were given the chance to see first-hand how one of the world’s largest aeromedical organisations operates.
The interactive replica fuselage features a cockpit with avionics, a propeller flight simulator and is fitted out with stretchers, oxygen and other examples of medical equipment.
Students from grades two to six were welcomed on board as the simulator ran through an outback patient rescue scenario, complete with landing and take-off.
Last year, the service’s fleet of 68 planes flew a total of 26,157,502km, which is the equivalent of 34 trips to the moon and back.
